Collections Supervisor

Full Time - Sorrento Mesa

JOB OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for the supervision of the Collection Department. Supervisor will monitor and motivate Collections Staff to meet or exceed departmental goals. Supervisor will provide quality service for successful resolution of difficult member interactions.

NATURE & SCOPE:

  • Oversee the collections of past due real estate and consumer loan accounts, legal accounts, bankruptcies. Monitor other related areas which may cause potential loss to the credit union.
  • Review delinquency trends to ensure levels are kept below those of other credit unions.
  • Knowledgeable on all FDCPA Policies and Procedures that are unique to a Collections environment. Trains all staff on their roles in this environment as necessary as well as updating them on FFCU requirements.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance teamwork, provide information sharing, improve productivity and provide proper department security and operations.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • A degree preferred with approximately 7-10 years of applicable collections experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of FDCPA guidelines. repossessions, bankruptcies and legal account administration
  • 1-3 years supervisory or group lead experience required.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution and coaching skills; the ability to demonstrate sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Must be detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of Department operations, compliance regulations and security procedures is preferred as well as strong adaptability, staff motivation, focus and organizational skill is desired.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent decision-making within the scope of collection management practices and operations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Handle daily collection activities required to protect and recover the assets of the credit union.
  • Provide credit counseling and quality service to successfully resolve difficult member situations.
  • Evaluate and determine the best course of action to resolve delinquent cases.
  • Supervise Collections Department Staff.
